Introduction to Hockey

Program Overview

MYHA's Youth Hockey Experience will focus on learning to skate with certified coaches. The program aims to help kids learn to skate while introducing some basic skating drills and incorporating sticks and pucks into drills later in the season. At the end of this program, participants will be able to play hockey at the Mite level. This program will work specifically on learning to skate and is designed for skaters new to the hockey program. Birth years 2017 - 2021.

Location

• All sessions will be at the Smith Center.

Equipment

• All basic equipment needs, including ice skates, helmets, chest pads, elbow pads, gloves, breezers, and knee pads/shin guards, are provided by the Merrill Youth Hockey Association for the session and will be returned at the end of the session with a $50.00 refundable deposit.
• Beginning August 1, 2024, USA Hockey requires a Neck Laceration Protector for all levels of play EXCEPT Learn to Skate/Intro to Hockey.

Merrill Youth Hockey Fee: $25.00 + USA Hockey Fee

USA Hockey Fees vary depending on age.

• Registration with USA Hockey is required to participate in hockey activities.
• The USA Hockey fee is paid once per season.
