As a non-profit organization, the Merrill Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) relies on the support of its families. Volunteer time helps us keep programs running smoothly and creates a better experience for all players.
πΈ Reductions in required hours or exemptions may be granted to:
- Coaches
- Coordinators
- Board Members
- Parent Representatives to the Coaches Committee
All other families are considered non-exempt and are required to fulfill volunteer service hours.
π 2024β2025 Season Volunteer Requirements
Requirements
- π§’ Coach Families: 2 shifts
- π Non-Coach Families: 4 shifts
Volunteer obligations were agreed upon during registration and must be met each season.
πΏ Concessions & Other Volunteer Roles
Concessions provide food and support during MYHA and Merrill High School hockey games.
β Training provided by the Concessions Manager
π Sign-ups managed by the Service Hours Coordinator
ποΈ The volunteer year runs from October to October
π« No Show & Cancellation Policy
All Seasons:
π You are responsible for finding a replacement
π In emergencies, contact the Service Hour Coordinator
β Do not remove yourself from a shift without backup
πΈ Penalties:
Winter No Show: $200 (due within 14 days)
Summer No Show: $300 (due before next season registration)
π Failure to pay = player ineligibility for games/practices
β οΈ Not All Volunteer Duties Count Toward Required Hours
Families are expected to volunteer at each game in various ways on home game days. This does not count towards the required volunteer hours that are a part of the agreement.
- Concessions
- Scoreboard operation
- Official scorebook
- Penalty box
- Counting saves
- Set-up/Clean-Up
π Summer 2025 Volunteer Expectations
Each family from the 2024β2025 season must:
π Claim 2 Events
π Claim 1 On-Call Weekend
β These must be on different weekends
π If you do not claim them, they will be assigned to you
π« No Show = $300 Fine
This must be paid before future registration if your child plans to participate again.
π Switches
All switches must be:
- Coordinated by you
π¨ Reported by both parties to the DIBS Coordinator:

π΅ Paid Volunteer Support
There are a number of teens/adults who may be available to work your shifts for $15.00/hr (paid before the event). Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Dana Klug, for a list of names and phone numbers.
